Mr Solomon Bayugo Sulemani (College Librarian)

Mr. Solomon Bayugo Sulemani is the College Librarian. He has an M Phil in Library Studies (UG), an M.A in Library Studies (UG), a B.A (Hons.) in Social Work/Sociology (UG), a Diploma in Librarianship (Distinction).

Mr. Sulemani is a Chartered Member of the Ghana Library Association (GLA), Member of Council, Ghana Library Association 2012, the Secretary General of the Association of Health Information and Libraries in Africa from October, 2012-2014. He was the Vice Secretary General of the Association of Health Information and Libraries in Africa 2010 -2012. He is a Council Member AHILA 2016 to date. He has undertaken a lot of consultancy work in various institutions.

He has worked in the University of Ghana Medical School Library, now College of Health Sciences Library, University of Ghana from 1983 to date; a total of 34 years of service experience 14 years have been at management level.

Mr. Sulemani was first appointed as a junior Library Assistant Grade III in 1983-1988; he was promoted to Junior Library Assistant Grade II in 1988 – 1992. In 1992 – 1996 he was made Library Assistant and a Senor Library Assistant in a1996 – 2001. He was further promoted to the position of Principal Library Assistant in 2001- 2002. In   2002- 2011 he became   Assistant Librarian, and in 1st October, 2014 he was promoted to the position of College Librarian/Head Librarian.

His vision is to develop and manage the College of Health Sciences Library to become an efficient and effective information resource centre that will mirror both the internal and external visibility of the College, to take opportunity of the emerging information technology applications in libraries to stimulate innovation in support of teaching, research, learning and clinical practice.
