National Investment Bank Supports College of Health Sciences

The National Investment Bank (NIB) has refurbished and furnished the Faculty Common Room for retired and part time faculty of the College of Health Sciences.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the immediate past Provost, Prof. Yao Tettey thanked the NIB for supporting the College.  According to Prof. Tettey, the idea behind the setting up of the Faculty Common Room was for retired faculty to give off their offices to faculty in active service to use.  Part time faculty are also welcomed to use the facility.

The Provost, Rev. Prof. Patrick F. Ayeh-Kumi said it was a joy to inaugurate the Faculty Common Room.  He said the University of Ghana was poised to continue its drive to become a world class research-intensive university so there was the need for the College to make every faculty member comfortable to enable them carry out their duties as expected.  He pleaded with the Bank to continue to support the College to solve some of its needs.

The Head of Corporate Affairs of the Bank, Mr. Charles Wordey, who also represented the Managing Director, said the Bank was proud to be associated with the College of Health Sciences.  He noted that the donation was part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).  He praised the College for making judicious use of the funds the Bank provided.  He pledged the Bank’s continuous support to the College.

The Faculty Common Room was refurbished and furnished at a cost of fifty thousand cedis (GH¢50,000.00).  The Room is fitted with a television set, computers with internet connectivity, a printer, fridge, microwave and two sets of living room furniture.
