Medical education in Ghana constitutes a vital role in the delivery of health care, this is because the quality of education given to medical students determines the quality of health care patients will receive. In pursuance of providing such a qualitative health care to the country, our fore runners saw the need to start a health education system that will meet the environmental and the socio-economics, cultural needs of the country, at the time.

The dynamics of the medical practice and the evolution of medical science, and the ascription of medicine of our time, and perhaps the years to come, could not have made us any less but more appreciative of the effort of yesteryears.

The College of Health Sciences, an administrative body of all the health related institutions of the University of Ghana Medical School was established with its priorities made up of coordination, supervision, research, and evaluation of all the health education system in the University of Ghana. And as such the provision of world class health service providers for the country.

With the vision: “BRINGING GOOD HEALTH, COMFORT AND HAPPINESS TO PEOPLE”, the college collectively embarked on the mission: “to produce highly qualified and competent health professionals and medical scientist to provide promotive, preventive, and curative services to meet the health need of the nation and the global community through world class excellence in teaching, research and dissemination of knowledge. “
