On behalf of the University of Ghana Library Systems (UGLS), I extend a warm welcome to all students, faculty, and staff of the University of Ghana.
The UGLS consists of the Balme library, which is the main library, the Accra City campus library, the College of health Sciences library, hall libraries, departmental libraries, school libraries, institute libraries etc. These libraries are dotted all over the UG campuses and provide you with both print and online resources. In addition, the libraries provide you with services, programs and spaces that enable you to achieve your personal and academic goals.
The online catalogue (UGCat) provides all the information you need about textbooks and where to find them. You have access to a range of online journals and electronic books and some academic related software such as Endnote and Mendeley. We invite you to explore our websites https://balme.ug.edu.gh and https://library.ug.edu.gh . The databases made available to you include:
- Ebscohost (supports research at all levels by providing material to guide users through every step of the research process)
- Sage Research Methods Online (supports research at all levels by providing material to guide users through every step of the research process)
- Scopus (abstract and citation database, useful for literature search and review)
- Annual Reviews (captures current understanding of a topic and sets the work in historical context)
- ScienceDirect (full text multidisciplinary)
- JSTOR (full text multidisciplinary)
- Ebooks from Ebscohost, Proquest and ScienceDirect
We are committed to creating an enabling environment to support cutting-edge research as well as high quality teaching and learning. You are welcome to visit us in the various libraries.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on blbalmelib.@ug.edu.gh or through your designated subject librarians.
Best wishes for a successful and fulfilling academic year at the University of Ghana.
