Call for Application: Short-Term Training in Writing and Publishing Systematic Review and Original Articles

The World Health Organisation (WHO), under the Short-Term Training Grants for Research Capacity Strengthening and knowledge management project is funding a training workshop for Young Faculty and Graduate Students of the College of Health Sciences in systematic reviews and publishing of articles.

NEW NIH GRANT TO TRAIN STUDENTS IN TB AND HIV RESEARCH

Professor Margaret Lartey (School of Medicine and Dentistry) and Professor Richard Adanu (School of Public Health) recently won a D43 grant titled “Training Program in Tuberculosis and HIV Research in Ghana”. This is a collaborative project between Brown University and University of Ghana funded by the NIH- Fogarty International Center. 

Training Programme in Tuberculosis and HIV Research in Ghana – UG/Brown University Academic Partnership

The 5-year training Programme in TB and HIV Research in Ghana is funded by a grant from the NIH-Fogarty International Centre and is only open to people affiliated with the University of Ghana.

YOUNG RESEARCHERS TRAINED IN SCIENTIFIC WRITING AND COMMUNICATION

Twenty young researchers mainly from constituent units of the College of Health Sciences have been trained in Scientific Writing and Communication organized under the Building Stronger Universities Initiative (BSU) phase two project. The workshop took place from 6th to 8th May, 2015 at the Medical and Surgical Skills Institute College of Health Sciences; Korle-bu. 

College of Health Sciences Advisory Board Inaugurated

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey has inaugurated a thirteen-member Advisory Board for the College of Health Sciences.

In brief remarks at the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Aryeetey noted that with the increasing number of students and staff, the University saw the need to decentralize its administrative and management processes in order to achieve greater efficiency and timeliness in decision making. 

FACULTY RETREAT ON THE UTILIZATION OF SAKAI E-LEARNING PLATFORM

The School of Public Health (SPH), University of Ghana, has held a 3-day retreat to offer faculty a hands-on training in the use of the Sakai e-learning platform. The retreat was held from January 14-16, 2014 at the Forest Hotel, Dodowa.
In his opening address, the Dean of the School, Prof. Richard Adanu, welcomed faculty and resource persons for responding positively to his invitation to the training at a time they were expected to be marking examination scripts and getting their results ready.

SBAHS HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR THE FIRST BATCH OF TRAINED SPORTS MASSEURS

The School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences (SBAHS), College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana has held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of trained sports masseurs at Korle Bu. The first batch of graduands included masseurs from the national teams, premier league clubs and division one league clubs in the country received certificates after 12 weeks of undergoing the training programme.
