Our Mission is to produce highly qualified and competent health professionals and medical scientists to provide promotive, preventive and curative services to meet the health needs of the nation and the global community through world-class excellence in teaching, research and dissemination of knowledge.

As the fifth Provost of the CHS, I shall endeavour to empower the institutions of the College to perform their core functions of teaching, research and service in an excellent manner to achieve the mission of the CHS stated above.

We shall develop our faculty, train and recruit additional faculty and also improve and expand our infrastructure and upgrade our equipment in order to increase our undergraduate and graduate student numbers. We shall endeavour to attract faculty and students from other countries to internationalize the CHS and the University as a whole.

The CHS is in the position to make a major impact on the University’s quest to become a world- class research intensive university through health research. In this regard, all Schools of the College will collaborate with our research institution Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), other Colleges of the University and with international researchers and agencies to conduct basic and cutting edge research into the numerous health problems in Ghana and beyond.

One major challenge confronting the College and the University is the relocation of the CHS Administration and its institutions currently on the Korle Bu Campus to the Legon Campus. We are happy that the facility is now being used for the purpose for which it was set up. Hopefully, work on the college Administration Block and faculty buildings will commence soon. The CHS is grateful to the Vice Chancellor, Senior Management and the University Council for their efforts to relocate the CHS.

A major change like we have undertaken cannot happen without teething problems. Major sacrifices will have to be made. Patience, tolerance, compromise and understanding are key to the achievement of this purpose. With God as usual on our side, we shall succeed in this endeavour in order to make the University of Ghana a world-class research-intensive university respected, admired and consulted globally.
