College of Health Sciences Strengthens Global Ties in Public Health Collaboration

As part of a strategic partnership and knowledge-sharing initiative, Professor Alfred E. Yawson, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, and Professor Yvonne Dei-Adomako, Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School, paid a working visit to Syracuse University’s Maxwell School from 2nd to 4th April 2025.

The visit aimed at enhancing collaboration in the implementation and evaluation of Public Health Services and provided the platform for the Provost and the Dean to share knowledge and insights with host institution reflecting the College’s commitment to the University’s strategy priority 2 (Impactful Research) and priority 4 (engagement and partnership)

Joining the high-level delegation were Dr. Lucy Asamoah-Akuoko from the National Blood Service, Ghana, and BLOODSAFE Project Administrators, Mr. Daniel Nana Yaw Abankwah and Ms. Isabella Rockson. Their participation emphasized the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships in improving health outcomes, particularly in the area of safe blood services.

The visit yielded reflective and engaging talks and laid the groundwork for future academic exchanges, collaborative research, and technical support between the two institutions. It marks a significant step towards advancing public health practice and education in Ghana through global partnerships.
