The University of Ghana Older Adults Reference Group (UGORG) is an initiative of the Health Professions Education Unit (HPEU), College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, established to engage adults aged 60 years and above as active partners in research, education, and community engagement.
Modelled on the Brunel Older Persons Reference Group (BORG) in the United Kingdom, UGORG provides a platform for older adults to contribute their lived experiences, perspectives, and insights to research and initiatives concerning ageing, health, and well-being.
Through a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) approach, UGORG supports meaningful collaboration between older adults, students, academics, researchers, health professionals, and other stakeholders. The initiative seeks to promote age-inclusive research, intergenerational learning, community engagement, and evidence-informed approaches to improving the health and well-being of older adults.
