UG CORPORATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE TROPHY TOUR TO THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES
On Monday 5th May, 2025, the College of Health Sciences (CHS) welcomed the University of Ghana (UG) Sports Director, Dr. Austin Luguterah, and a media team from Rite Sports Multimedia as part of the UG Corporate Football League Trophy Tour. The purpose of the visit was to present the ultimate trophy to the College community, giving all participating teams and management the opportunity to experience the trophy firsthand. This initiative is aimed at boosting interest, team spirit, and motivation among staff as the tournament progresses.

In his address, Dr. Luguterah highlighted the evolution of the football league from a simple community game into a well-organized competition featuring over 18 teams. He noted that the matches are aired on Ghana Television (GTV) every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, further promoting visibility and enthusiasm for the event.

In addition to the football league, Dr. Luguterah announced the Sports Directorate’s upcoming initiatives to organize a Corporate Athletics and Tennis Tournament, open to staff of the University. He extended an invitation to CHS management and senior members to actively participate in the athletics tournament, emphasizing the importance of promoting wellness and teamwork among staff through sports.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Alfred Edwin Yawson, warmly received the visiting team and expressed his enthusiasm for the trophy tour. In a lighthearted remark, he stated that the trophy should remain at the College of Health Sciences and charged the CHS team to work diligently toward winning it. He applauded the University and the Sports Directorate for this innovative and inclusive initiative and expressed optimism for its continuity.

The visit concluded with a symbolic photo session featuring the trophy. Those captured in the memorable moments included the Provost, the College Registrar, the Assistant Registrar for Public Affairs, the CHS team captain, and some staff members.

The UG Corporate Football League Trophy Tour served as a refreshing and motivating event that ignited greater interest in sports within the College of Health Sciences. It reinforced the University’s commitment to fostering healthy competition, unity, and wellness among staff across its constituent units.
