The College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, is proud to announce that the Provost, Professor Alfred Edwin Yawson, has been elected Vice President of the Association of Medical Schools in Africa (AMSA). His election was confirmed during the inauguration of the Association’s newly elected Executive Committee following the formal handover and Executive Committee Meeting held at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. This prestigious appointment is a testament to Professor Yawson’s distinguished leadership, commitment to medical education, and outstanding contributions to healthcare training, research, and institutional development in Ghana and across Africa.
As Vice President of AMSA, Professor Yawson will work alongside fellow Executive Committee members to provide strategic leadership for the Association and advance its mission of strengthening medical education across the continent. The new Executive Committee is expected to foster stronger institutional partnerships, promote capacity development, enhance communication and visibility, and support initiatives aimed at improving medical education and the health workforce in Africa.
